About Pamela
“I am running for the CBOE because I care deeply about educating our children. Every child deserves the best possible learning experience—not only because they are the future of our community, but because they are among its most vulnerable members and need our strong advocacy. I pledge to make a meaningful difference in the life of every child in our community: to advocate for them, protect them, and, above all, equip them with the tools they need to succeed.”
Getting to Know Pamela
Education has always been a priority in Pam’s home. Her mother was a career science teacher who taught everything from beginning environmental science to AP physiology. She took pride in mentoring students after school and writing science textbooks for the State of California.
Pam earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in economics and an MBA with an emphasis in finance from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California.
All four of Pam’s children attended local public schools before continuing their educations at Diablo Valley College, the University of San Diego, Revelle College and UC Santa Barbara.
Pam has long been active in education advocacy—serving on parents’ club boards, school district committees and campaigning for school parcel taxes and bond measures. She served eight years as an Orinda Union School District trustee, working on numerous committees, including one that oversaw the sale of surplus property to The Pulte Group. That transaction delivered a $19.5 million payout, a new 7,500-square-foot OUSD administrative office building, and two new city playing fields.
During her tenure on the OUSD board she advocated for increased funding for schools, more equitable distribution of education dollars, an end to the diversion funds from education programs, and expanded programs that support the learning and development of every child.
For nearly a decade she served on the Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs. Her focuses were on sharing ideas, identifying common priorities, and strengthening educational opportunities for all students. At the conclusion of her tenure, she received the Council’s “Honorary Service Award”, given to individuals or organizations that provide outstanding service to children and youth in the community and go above and beyond what is expected.
Before working full-time with her husband in their small business, Pam held an administrative position at a hospital where she co-chaired eight committees with physicians. These groups focused on improving patient care, outcomes, post-operative follow-up, discharge processes, emergency-room protocols, and employee satisfaction. Several of the programs she helped develop were later adopted by hospitals throughout the region.
As a hospital administrator focused on patient-care improvement, a school board member, and a small-business owner, Pam understands the meaning of hard work, fiscal responsibility, long-term planning, thoughtful strategic goal setting, and the importance of strong relationships with volunteers, colleagues, and employees.
Over the years she has served as office manager, bookkeeper, land-planning specialist, subdivision-approval liaison, residential construction consultant, and design collaborator on both single-family homes and multifamily projects. Preparing presentations for planning commissions, design review committees, county supervisor hearings, and other public meetings have become some of her specialties.
I’m thrilled to be running for the County Board of Education and grateful for the encouragement I’ve already received from parents, educators, community leaders, and neighbors across our area.
